One day I will blog about my oldest son's birth---near death experience, but in effort to make a long story shorter, just know that the words to the song "Tis So Sweet" came alive to me during that time.
Ever since Chase was born the words to that song have been so dear. As he lay there fighting for his life, I sang those words to him. As a toddler when he would get a boo-boo, I sang those words. When I would lay with him to go to sleep, or when he would wake during the night with a bad dream....I sang those words. I remember a time as a pre-teen when he was sick with the flu and felt so bad, I asked him what I could do to make it better, and you guessed it, he said, "sing 'Tis So Sweet." Consequently, that song has become the family song and each child has been treated to their parent's screaching version many many times.
You would think that having sang those words as often as I have, that trusting in Jesus would be pretty easy. Loving Jesus IS easy. Trusting isn't always easy for me. Ya see, I gotta know how things are gonna be. I can't relax and just let things fall in place, I need a plan. Therefore, there have also been times when I have requested myself to sing those words.
'Tis So Sweet is how I want to live my life. No, I don't live that way all of the time, but I just request a rendition from myself and quickly put things in the right order.
"Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus
Just to take Him at his word
Just to rest upon His promise
Just to know, thus sayeth the Lord.
Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him
How I've proved Him o're and o're
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus
Oh for grace to trust Him more.
I'm so glad I've learned to trust Him
Precious Jesus, Savior, Friend,
And I know that He is with me
Will be with me, to the end."
